Dry needling is a treatment used by a chiropractor that involves incredibly thin filiform needles penetrating the skin. The purpose of these needles is to stimulate certain trigger points.

This treatment also stimulates the connective and muscular tissues. These areas are not easily palpable during chiropractic care. This treatment is called dry needling because there is no medication in the needle.

Dry Needling has been helpful for people that suffer from muscle tightness that does not improve with stretching or strengthening. It can help to relieve muscle spasms and pain.

Dry needling has also helped those that suffer from a limited range of motion. It can improve the range of motion and flexibility. This treatment can be used to treat sports injuries and fibromyalgia.

Dry needling has also been shown to improve symptoms of osteoarthritis, including knee and hip pain.

As with any treatment plan, the results will differ for each person. For patients that are receiving their initial treatments, the effects can last for many days.

The duration of these effects should increase as the treatment progresses. Most people will notice improvement within one to two days but may have some soreness immediately after the session. With each treatment, the positive effects should be felt sooner and should continue to improve with each session.

Each person will react differently to the dry needling session. Some patients may have some bruising or bleeding after the session. That should also improve with each subsequent session.
