“I have had trigeminal neuralgia since 2004 possibly due to a hit on the head by a jet ski a few years earlier. For those of you who have never heard of this terrible disease it is called the suicide disease for a very good reason. The pain in your face is excruciating. I have endured endless medications thru the years some of which helped at least for a while. I have had 2 micro-vascular decompression surgeries. After the first one I was pain free for 6 months and then it returned. The second surgery was more successful but eventually I began taking some medication again. “Dr. Shapiro is great. At The first visit, he listened attentively and seemed to understand immediately my complaints. He did not tell me it was just my Fibromyalgia and I need pain meds and sleeping meds, as I have been told so many times. After taking x-rays and performing an exam he carefully explained his findings to me as well as his recommendations. After the first visit, my hands which have been painful and often numb for several years stopped hurting and not been numb since. My left leg which was getting to the point that I was having difficulty standing and walking is 90% improved. My eye spasms due to congenital end stage glaucoma are also 90% reduced. This is of the utmost importance since I have been told that one of these spasms will sever the remainder of my eyesight at any time.
